Our philosophy from the start has always been “to work hard and be the best”
This is in our genes; probably passed down from our grandfathers who were Fleet Air Arm and Royal Navy - hence the nautical flavour in our name.
Oliver’s “can do” enthusiastic approach is the drive behind the company and Benjamin, who’s creative flair and eye for precision, make the perfect duo to build exceptional homes.
After GCSEs, Oliver studied Electronics and Ben studied Aerospace Engineering. To earn money during holidays and weekends, they both took labouring jobs with a local Plasterer.
In a short time, they learnt the trade and realised they could make more money plastering than working in electronics or Aerospace!
The owner of the plastering company moved overseas and Oliver & Ben soon found themselves in great demand.
Their work brought them into contact with many excellent suppliers and tradesmen. They were able to forge some enduring friendships and decided to invest in property. They saved for a deposit, formed ‘Wigg Developments’ and in Dec 2006 bought their first project in Alconbury Weston with a plan to extend and renovate it.
This, their first project was sold before it went on the market at 10% more than the anticipated asking price.
They built their first new build in the garden of a renovation in Sawston in 2008.
Bowson Leeway Homes Ltd was incorporated in Dec 2011
The firm continued to buy, extend and renovate then, in 2013 acquired a plot of land in Sawston and built a beautiful terrace of 3 houses – Brookfield Villas. They all sold quickly setting records for the area due mainly to the beautiful reclaimed bricks, superb quality and hand-made kitchens.
The success of Brookfield Villas was the catalyst they needed to go on and build their piece-de-resistance
